The Local Food Shop

The Local Food Shop  unfolded as a natural outcome of the need to have an outlet for the farm produce and our own growing line up of food products. A roadside farm stand, only a little bigger, that will also stock many food products from other local producers and farmers. This will be an 800 square feet space dedicated to food produced mainly in Prince Edward County. The shop will be housed in the rustic, century old drive shed that sits strategically on the roadside with ample parking space. Being on an ideal location made the vision more realistic. On busy County Rd. 16 in Black Creek, the Local Food Shop can easily become a landmark in South Marysburg, Prince Edward County.

The goal of The Local Food Shop is multidimensional.

  • To showcase and promote the best that the County has to offer in regards to food.
  • To provide an additional outlet for the products of the growing line up of talented County food artisans.
  • To encourage further production, and cooperation between farmers and producers.
  • To supply not only the seasonal tourist market, but also the local community.
  • To create resilience in the community by means of providing work opportunities for our youth.
  • To host food relate educational events throughout the season by teaming up with local chefs and farmers.
  • To promote the seasonal local diet will be achieved through this type of cooperation.
  • To extend the growing and business season.
  • To improve food security and investment on our local economy.
